Ora Events were trusted to take on and develop a much loved sports event with a legacy of over 30 years. The New Forest Marathon has been the cornerstone of the UK running calendar spanning 3 decades. Sadly this event ceased to run in 2014 requiring a complete fresh approach to revive it to where it sits today, as one of the leading running events in the UK.
This project required a complete re-brand and well as a relocation, building every element up from scratch from the logo to event format with the customer at the centre. Added to this challenge was the location. The New Forest National Park, one of the most stunning areas in the UK but also one that required significant understanding of the forest, communities and demographics.
Key influences included businesses, tourists, local residents and community groups, as well as organisations such as district councils, county councils, The Forestry Commission, Verderers, Commoners, Ecologists, Safety Advisory Groups, The National Park Authority and local parish councils.
Our key objective was to make sure everything was designed with a purpose ensuring all parties benefited from the culture and design of the event.
To continue the long standing legacy of the event, we also set up the New Forest Marathon Community Fund, This registered charity uses the marathon to raise money to help fund projects across the community, giving back to the area which make the marathon possible. Since 2014 the charity has raised £50,000 and funded over 60 projects.
In 2016/2017 the event sold out and was listed in the top 5 marathons in the UK as well as nationaly recognised as one of the top UK races. Ora Events were awarded both Business of the Year for 2017 and honoured with a Hampshire County Council award for the contribution the event has made to the local community.
We continue to work hard to make sure this event has a bright future for both the New Forest and the community it serves.
